How To Get Free Electricity

By: Patrick Noack

Did you know that a 21 year old graduating from college with a bachelors degree in geology can easily earn six figures a year searching for new deposits of non-renewable energy sources? Geology Professor Lewis Brown at Lake Superior State University tells students this on their first day of class. Our state and national governments sink billions of dollars into research to help find those deposits so energy companies will not have to. Who do you think pays for that? You do.

Every year as energy prices skyrocket you complain more and more about paying exorbitant prices to heat your home or charge your childs laptop. Do you even know what goes into heating your home? Does your electric company use hydropower or coal to produce your electricity? The truth is, very little power comes from renewable sources like hydropower, geothermal heat, solar energy, or windmills. Over 90% of America is powered by non-renewable pollutants, but there is a better way.

In todays economic downturn it is important to save money any way you can. When you are struggling to make ends meet it would be wonderful to be able to tell the power company you do not need or want their services. What if this were possible? What if you could create your own renewable energy source and never pay another cent to a money hungry power company? You can. You can build your own windmill or solar energy panel and kiss the power company good-bye. Installing wind or solar power generators can qualify you for a 30% tax rebate and in some states, if you turn power back out to the grid your power company will pay you!

Driving through my town I saw many homes with solar panels. It seems my neighbors were all going green and I was being left behind. I had never really thought about the idea of installing solar panels on my home because that had always seemed like something you did if you were far more affluent than I. I ran into a huge brick wall: no one in my area, or the surrounding area for that matter, installed solar panels. I could not get a quote from a professional because there were no professionals available. I really liked what my neighbors were saying about creating their free electricity.

I was blown away by the idea of not only creating my own electricity that I did not have to pay for, but I loved the idea that I could do something great and green for the environment. What could I do when no one could install one for me? I began researching solar power panels I could buy premade and I was astounded at how expensive they are. One company I checked out had solar panels ranging from $5,856 all the way up to $73,548. Those prices were listed as sale prices! There’s no way I could save money by buying a premade solar panel at those prices. It would take me the rest of my earthly life to regain that money. I mean, sure, I would be doing something amazing for the environment, but I had to be realistic. If I went that route I would end up spending more than I made in a year on a decent system.

I decided to look into buying a kit and assembling my own solar panel. Home kits started at $8,000 and most websites I looked at wanted a lot of information from me so they could call me at home to really push the sale. I had about had enough when I discovered there are step by step guides to building your own solar panel or windmill for less than $200.

Could you imagine building your own solar panel or windmill for less than $200 with parts you can buy at any hardware store? It was almost as if I had stumbled across the holy grail of renewable resources. You can use it at home to save money off your electric bill or you can take it camping. You can save even more money by switching to an electric furnace and you will never pay the electric company another dime. Freedom at last! Is that not absolutely amazing?
